Ingredients
  

  • 120 grams butter, or margarine
  • 200 grams olive oil
  • 230 grams granulated sugar
  • 1 vanilla
  • Zest from one orange
  • 50 grams water
  • 50 grams ouzo
  • 100 grams fresh orange juice
  • 700 grams all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp anise seeds
  • About 2 cups sesame seeds

Instructions
 

  • Beat spread, olive oil, sugar, zest and vanilla in a mixer bowl. Add water and ouzo. Mix orange juice with baking soda. As soon as it bubbles add it to the mixer bowl.
  • Mix flour with baking powder, salt and anise seeds. Add flour to mixer bowl and knead only until combined. Dough will be soft.
  • Wash sesame seeds and spread on a baking paper. Take 50 grams from the dough and roll into a log. Roll the log into sesame seeds and make a circle by overlapping and pinching the edges to seal. Transfer on a baking tray. You will make about 30 cookies.
  • Bake at 160˚ C fan for 40-45 minutes.
