Steamed Sea Bass with Ginger

sea bass steamedThis is so good! Oven steamed Sea Bass flavored with ginger, soy and spring onions. Serve with steamed rice and you have a delicious, easy, healthy meal. The fish is steamed in the oven by using two baking pans, wrapped together with foil.

Ingredients

  • One, whole, fresh sea bass (the size of the fish depends on how many persons you plan to serve)
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
  • 2-3 spring onions, sliced diagonaly
  • One thumb piece fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 3 Tbs soy sauce
  • ¼ tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Method

Preheat oven to 200 C. You will need two baking pans. One smaller, one bigger. Put the fish in the smaller baking pan. Sprinkle with sea salt on both sides. Top fish with the spring onion and ginger slices. Mix the soy sauce with the sugar and drizzle over the fish.

Put the pan with the fish in the bigger pan. Fill the bigger pan with boiling water, until it comes half way up the sides of the smaller pan. Cover both pans together tightly with heavy duty foil and put in the preheated oven. Bake for 20 miniutes.

Transfer fish to a serving platter, drizzle with the sesame oil and serve.
